How GFDL works

I had some practice with it on the Zelda Wiki on Fandom. At the bottom right of the wiki, you can see the content license. Ours is the GNU FDL. Not compatible with Super Mario Wiki's from June 9, 2010 onward. Even loosely paraphrasing (like you did on Donkey Konga 2 (Adobe Flash)) is grounds for getting into trouble. It needs to be completely different, like these two edits here. For comparison, if you're copying from a source that does use the GFDL (including former instances), it needs to have a disclaimer attributing the original link, history, and authors (which could be covered by the history, but an extra safe measure is to add on the page itself). For example, see Template:Rewrite. Gstar (talk) 15:21, May 10, 2025 (UTC)

Don't copy mario wiki, just use mariowiki revisions from 2010, especially if a page doesn't exist, if you copy a page again from mario wiki after June 8, 2010, i'll ask gstar. Sailor3933 (talk) 15:40, May 10, 2025 (UTC)
Oh, alright. Makes sense. Kaptain Skurvy (talk) 15:43, May 10, 2025 (UTC)
Sorry if the restriction is inconvenient. Not 2010: precisely prior to June 9, 2010, since that was when the content license was changed. The general disclaimer is unclear when it says "The text of the Super Mario Wiki is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 Unported license, and in some cases, the GNU Free Documentation License 1.2.", but it was from checking Wayback Machine snapshots that I discovered the cut-off date.
Also, very important is to add {{Attribution-SMWiki}} at the bottom of the article for when reusing from older revision, since the terms of reuse require a disclaimer. It's actually a link to the original article and its edit history that's required, and a disclaimer template is the most convenient way of doing it. (If the article was deleted, the list of authors need to be provided on the article, which is why I make effort to do that for good measure.) There's a Wikipedia page about GFDL compliance here. I'll agree Gstar. please add the attribution template on pages. Sailor3933 (talk) 15:52, May 10, 2025 (UTC)

Connectivity

Hi, sorry about connectivity. Sometimes it occurs and may require patience or clicking the "Try again" button (on Firefox for me, at least) to retry submitting edits. Gstar (talk) 16:49, May 10, 2025 (UTC)
